2021-06-08T20:59:35+00:00

How the wellness industry is taking over travel In the past few years, studies and researchers from Sociology have discussed that the postindustrial society is becoming increasingly dissatisfied with mundane and rational daily life. This dissatisfaction is as much self-directed (e.g., identity, stress, work overloads, loneliness) as it is socially-directed (e.g., anomie and the impacts of materialism and capitalism). This has led people to seek hedonic experiences, i.e., experiences that provide almost instant pleasure and respond essentially to biological needs. However, as socioeconomic dynamics evolve and new lifestyles emerge, health and wellbeing are gaining increased importance in daily routines. More fulling [...]

This somewhat remote and exotic nature-based Portuguese destination holds an incredible combination of natural resources and social dynamics that create a unique wellbeing ambience. For that reason, sustainability has been a key factor in tourism planning and development, helping the region in achieving a paradise-like image. Strategically, the Azores have strived to be positioned as an active nature-based destination, leveraging rich natural resources and combining the beautiful green volcanic scenery with the blue [...]

2021-05-06T10:57:53+00:00

Within the CSR-Ready project, UIIN has conducted a comprehensive literature review over businesses Corporate & Social Responsibility (CSR) practices.
